Gold Award for HELECTOR
The best waste management and recycling practices were awarded at the Waste & Recycling Awards 2015.
BEAL (Biogas Energy AnoLiosia) SA, a partnership between HELECTOR SA and Australian company Energy Developments Ltd (EDL), received the Gold Award at the Waste & Recycling Awards 2015, for producing green energy and solidly committing to offering integrated environmental services in the crucial field of urban solid waste management.
BEAL was awarded gold in the Resource Recovery – Waste to Energy category.
The company was awarded for its project relating to the collection and development of the biogas emitted from the AnoLiossia Integrated Solid Waste Management Plant (OEDA). The BEAL unit has a total installed capacity of 23.5 MWe and is one of the largest units of its kind in Europe, producing 165,000 MWhe annually. It saves more than 150,000 tonnes of CO2per year, contributing significantly to improving the Western Attica environment as well as meeting Greece’s international commitments.
The Waste & Recycling Awards 2015 were held on Thursday 17 December 2015 and were organised by Plant Management, Boussias Communications. The attendees included top executives from private businesses and public bodies, mayors and local government officials, as well as members of the press. Energy Project Manager G. Boukis received the award on behalf of HELECTOR SA.
